Deborah Pickford, Invest™ Executive Director Retires

Alexandria, VA The Big 'I' announces that Deborah Pickford, executive director of Invest, will retire on May 27. Pickford has spent her six-year tenure leading Invest to improve the insurance literacy of students and attract new, diverse talent to the industry through her dedication to innovation and growth.

Under Pickford's leadership, Invest has more than doubled its growth in U.S. classrooms, attracted new funders, completed a rebranding, and increased diversity in the industry through workforce development partners and programs. She spearheaded programs and partnerships to attract more people to work at independent agencies and insurance firms, such as apprenticeships and Amazon's Career Choice program.

Prior to joining Invest in 2016, Pickford served on Allstate's capital region leadership team for 10 years, leading internal and external communications, safe teen driving programs, and a regional foundation. Among many accomplishments, she received an Allstate Innovation award for developing Allstate's Safe and Secure Communities national program to bring risk management and mitigation programs to local communities. Pickford currently serves as an Advisory Committee member on the Virginia High School League Foundation Board.

“Through her initiative and creativity, Deborah has helped so many young people realize that the insurance industry holds great career options for them," says Bob Rusbuldt, Big 'I' president & CEO. “Encouraging the next generation of professionals to pursue insurance is key to perpetuating the independent agency channel, and we are grateful for Deborah's dedication and energy in her outreach to students across the country. We wish her all the best in this new chapter of life."
