What is Invest?

What type of jobs and careers are available in insurance agencies and companies?
With over 400,000 jobs opening up in insurance over the next five years, there are opportunities for everyone. While most people think of insurance as a desk job where you sell insurance policies and that's an important part of our business  insurance careers offer much more. There are jobs in areas like cyber security, social media, drone operations, legal and legislative, communications, data analytics and much more. And did you know that if you decide to buy or start an insurance agency, you can own a small business.

And insurance touches nearly every business. Interested in music? We insure music publishing. Interested in horses? We insure horse farms? Do you like sailing? We insure boats and yachts. People even insure jewelry, art, and classic cars.  Whatever your passion, there is a job for you. The The industry also pays well and has great benefits. 

What will I learn in the insurance classes?
You will learn the basics of insurance, including information on careers. In addition, you will learn all about auto insurance, safer driving, homeowners and renters insurance, how an insurance agency operates, and business insurance. Besides Besides the basics, you will get some “power skills" training to guide you along your career journey and make you a stronger job candidate. Instructors help you create a strong LinkedIn profile, become a better presenter, learn effective interviewing tips, and develop leadership skills.

What credentials will I receive?
After completing the four-week course, you will receive a 'General Insurance Certificate' from Invest. Should you go on to study for your insurance license and pass the insurance licensing exam, you will become a licensed insurance professional in your state.  As your insurance career progresses, there are other insurance credentials you can earn to advance your knowledge, skills, and pay in the industry.

What is the schedule of classes?
Invest insurance Education classes will be taught on Tuesdays and Thursdays  starting May 11th. Each course will last one hour and with additional half-hour professional development sessions following the course (1.5 hours total time each session).

How do I know if I am eligible to apply for the program?
Most employees are eligible to apply after one continuous year of full-time employment at Amazon. If eligible, you can apply up to 90 days before your one-year anniversary.— Note that eligibility requirements may vary based on whether you are full-time, part-time, hourly or salaried.

How do I register for the classes and what is the deadline to register?
To register for the Invest insurance education classes, please visit the Invest/Career Choice Web site at www.investprogram.org/amazon. You can access more detailed information about the courses and the schedule on this Web site. Space is limited so we recommend you apply as soon as possible. 'Career Choice' vouchers are on a first-come, first-served basis.  The deadline to register is Wednesday, May 5th before Midnight.

What will taking the four-week course cost me?
The cost to you in zero. Amazon will cover 95% of your tuition, as long as you have $3,000 available in your 'Career Choice' tuition assistance fund. Invest will waive the remaining 5% of your tuition.
