    Vinciguerra enrolled in InVEST in 2013 at her high school, St. Petersburg Catholic High School, for the reason many of her other classmates did, because she heard how “awesome” it was from graduates who had already gone through the program. And what Vinciguerra gained through InVEST is already paying off. After finishing her first year of college at the University of South Florida, Vinciguerra is working part time at an insurance agency that she visited while on an InVEST field trip during her senior year of high school.

    Many opportunities have been given to Claudia by being a part of such a fantastic program, including a paid internship, at Bibby Brilling & Associates, LLP Insurance Agency. It started as a summer internship in 2013, and turned into an offer as a part-time employee throughout her senior year in high school. In fact, because of the InVEST program, she has decided to enroll at the University of North Texas to continue her education in insurance instead of entering the military after high school.

    InVEST taught Amy the importance of being an informed decision maker and a contributing member of my community. The program also taught her of the importance of building business relationships and being willing to take risks. InVEST furthermore allowed her to narrow down her career choices as she entered college. Insurance is definitely a possible career choice. InVEST taught Amy that she can make a career out of helping others. InVEST was a wonderful experience offering exposure to such a critical part of adult life.

    Nicole is an InVEST graduate working at an agency and volunteering back in the classroom. She enjoys working with the younger generation and meeting them in the classroom. It is very difficult to learn about what an industry is really like until you're actually in a job in the field, and she thinks this is what InVEST does so well. In every class she makes it a point to tell the students that the opportunities are endless in insurance.

  • Trevor Caldwell, East Florida Territory Manager, American Strategic Insurance

    Trevor is back in the classroom teaching the marketing and advertising portion of the InVEST class. InVEST provides his agency the opportunity to educate young students about the opportunities the insurance industry has to offer. ASI hired an InVEST student for an intern position in their claims department. She did a great job as a claims support representative. This gave her an idea of what degree she wanted to pursue in college.

    When InVEST volunteer Jill Roth came in to talk to the class, it opened her eyes to the wide variety of job opportunities there are in the insurance industry. Andrea already had an interest in choosing a career in Finance or Insurance, but after listening to Jill explain that there is insurance for almost everything she influenced her interest even more.

    After enrolling in the InVEST program at St. Petersburg High School in St. Petersburg, Fla., Trevor Caldwell learned the insurance industry wasn’t the dry and boring industry he always imagined. Armed with a semester full of successful insurance industry guest speakers, Caldwell was ignited with information on insurance careers, how policies are calculated, and even participated in a mock insurance agency in the classroom, discovering how real insurance rating software worked and how to market an insurance agency. Caldwell quickly realized the insurance industry could afford the exciting path he originally sought in a swimming career.

  • Randy Wentworth, Personal Lines & Claims Manager, Chalmers Insurance Group

    Randy Wentworth was part of an InVEST program at Sacopee Valley High School that provided an opportunity for students to run mock insurance agencies and mock company roles and later move to onsite work study with various agencies in nearby Portland, Maine. Over 19 years, he moved up the ranks and filled a variety of roles, expanding his knowledge and constantly challenging himself. Then almost 20 years after graduating from InVEST, he hit another career milestone and was hired as an agency manager for Chalmers Insurance Group.

    Like many InVEST students and graduates, Elizabeth Demers is making a big difference on her way to a successful insurance career. Her story is like countless others across the country. As a high school senior, Elizabeth Demers approached the career coordinator at Pinkerton Academy in search of a summer internship. The career coordinator recommended the InVEST Program and soon she had secured a summer position with the agency.

    Kim's experience with Project InVEST was a very important part of her insurance career. She took Project InVEST at Sacopee Valley High School learning everything from interviewing tips, to how to strategize a business plan. InVEST allowed her to broaden her knowledge of exactly what insurance was all about. Kim also learned real life skills as she role played various insurance positions within InVEST. Being part of InVEST allowed her to feel confident.

    Megan Cornelius, 2013 InVEST graduate and scholarship winner, recently was provided with an exceptional opportunity because of her stellar performance in class. Megan dreams of becoming an actuary, and with the help of her $2,000 InVEST scholarship is attending the Rochester Institute of Technology this fall to begin her studies to achieve that goal.

  • Ashley Riggs, Commercial Lines Account Manager, Hugh Cotton Insurance

    When asked how she learned about the insurance industry, Ashley Riggs, commercial lines account manager is quick to mention InVEST. She attended Edgewater High School in Orlando Fla. and enrolled in a business entrepreneurial class which included the InVEST program. Ashley Riggs found an internship at Hugh Cotton Insurance and in five short years, moved to an assistant, then a customer service representative (CSR) and today is the commercial lines account manager with a 220 insurance license.

  • Lindsey Shank, Agency Manager, BB&T, St. Petersburg Fl

    InVEST recently announced that Lindsey Shank has joined its national board. Shank is BB&T Insurance assistant agency manager in St. Petersburg, Fla. Lindsey Shank was first exposed to InVEST at St. Petersburg Catholic High School in St. Petersburg, Fla. where she was an InVEST student her junior and senior years. She began working at Iler Wall & Shonter a week after high school graduation where she continued to rise through the ranks throughout her college career.
