I've been involved with InVEST since 2007 and I had the opportunity to introduce this great program to Esperanza USA, an Hispanic community development organization in Philadelphia. I also became a member of the National Capitol Central Maryland Chapter of NAAIA (National African American Insurance Association) in 2007.
A year later, our chapter introduced InVEST to Marcelina Pascual, a business teacher at Roosevelt Senior High School and we volunteered to discuss all kinds of insurance products, marketing and insurance sales, careers and licensing requirements.
In recent years, I introduced InVEST to an adult education class to a 'STAY' program at Roosevelt Senior High School. Several students were actually awarded the Classroom-to-Career scholarship to pay for their insurance licensing course and test.
What's the greatest benefit of volunteering in the InVEST classroom?
The branding of Travelers as an ardent supporter with employees who give of their time and talents. It showed Travelers as a company that gives back to the communities it serves as a provider of insurance. And it enable agents and employees to participate and engage with students.
